A new drama took place on a beach in La Turballe (Loire-Atlantique) on Tuesday.

A 63-year-old man died after drowning while swimming in the late afternoon.

According to the firefighters, the victim became faint before coming out of the water in cardio-respiratory arrest, shortly before 7 p.m.

The emergency services could not do anything to save her.

Two weeks ago, already, another sixty-year-old lost his life in similar conditions, on the beach of Port-Nabé in La Turballe.

The seaside resort was also in mourning at the very beginning of the summer after a 58-year-old man drowned when he fell from a boat in early June.

Compared to the same period in 2018, these accidents are down 22% (889 drownings including 198 fatalities).
