A suspect in the resonant murder of eight-year-old Nastya Muravyova was detained in Tyumen.

Speech, as reported in the Investigative Committee, is about a 40-year-old local resident, whose name is still unknown.

The department noted that in relation to him "there are sufficient grounds to believe that he was involved in the murder."

According to local media reports, the detainee lived in a rented apartment on the first floor of house No. 40 on Sudostroiteley Street.

The owners put the apartment up for sale in the spring, and while it was being sold, they let the tenant in.

According to media reports, the girl herself lived at number 38 on the same street.

Earlier, her family said that she often went to this house to use the open wi-fi.

On the day of her disappearance, June 30, she once again went to a neighboring house and disappeared.

Tyumen journalists, citing their sources, write that the detainee is not on trial, he was engaged in the production of furniture, and before that he served in the special forces.

“Now he is detained in accordance with Art.

91 of the Criminal Procedure Code, investigative actions are being carried out with him.

After the DNA examination, a final decision will be made.

The man lived on the 1st floor of the house next to Nastya.

During a search in his apartment, corresponding marks were found on the carpet and a wire similar to the one with which the found girl was tied, ”the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

The girl was raped and killed immediately after the abduction, her killer was drunk at the time of the crime, the journalists note, citing their sources in law enforcement agencies.

On August 25, in addition to journalists, a crowd of indignant local residents gathered at the site of the investigative actions, who demanded that the investigators hand over the detainee to them in order to arrange lynching.

After the search of the suspect's apartment, boxes with material evidence were taken out of it.

According to some reports, the man was found to have a wire similar to the one that connected the deceased girl.

According to media reports, the suspect confessed to the crime.

However, he refused to undergo a polygraph.

He also denies any involvement in other cases of disappearances of children in the city.

Maniac handwriting

After the disappearance of Nastya Murvieva, a reward of 1 million rubles was promised for information about her whereabouts. On the fact of the disappearance of the girl, a criminal case was initiated under paragraph "c" of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of a minor), which then, by decision of the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, was transferred for investigation to the central office of the department.

The girl's body was found only on August 19, about two kilometers from the child's place of residence, next to a gas station on Domostroiteley Street, not far from the shore of Lake Obrochnoye.

The girl's hands were tied with a wire, her mouth and nose were sealed with duct tape, the body itself was wrapped in a bag.

He was found by employees of the workers who mowed the thick grass in this place.

At the same time, according to some reports, during the large-scale searches for Nastya, organized after her disappearance, the place near the gas station was previously checked and the package with the body, most likely, appeared there later.

A few days after the discovery of the body, a new tragedy occurred in the child's family.

Near the spontaneously arisen memorial in memory of Nastya, her uncle unexpectedly fell, who later died in the hospital from his injuries.

After the publication by Lenta.ru that the girl could become a victim of a maniac, on whose account there could be other murders of children, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin on August 24 ordered to check all cases of unobvious disappearance of children in Tyumen since 1997. In total, eight more similar cases were recorded, seven girls and one boy were victims. All of them were raped and killed, while, as the newspaper noted, the crimes have a number of similarities that suggest that they could have been committed by one person.

The publication also reported that after the investigation into the disappearance of Nastya Muravyova was taken up by the central office of the RF IC, Lieutenant Colonel Yevgeny Karchevsky flew to Tyumen from Moscow on July 6, who is considered one of the best specialists in capturing maniacs. In particular, he caught the bloodiest maniac in the history of the USSR and Russia, Mikhail Popkov, who is currently responsible for 84 proven murders.
