The Ministry of Education held a press conference on the same day to introduce the overall planning of major thematic education courses and teaching materials.

Tian Huisheng pointed out at the meeting that, for a long time, the major theme education in the course materials has been involved, but it is not systematic and complete, fragmented, and lacks top-level design.

Tian Huisheng said that in recent years, various relevant departments, representatives of the two sessions, etc. have repeatedly suggested strengthening various thematic educations, such as Chinese excellent traditional culture education, ecological civilization education, life safety and health education, etc., involving dozens of aspects.

"These are very important, but they cannot be comprehensive. To avoid overlapping and increase the burden on students, we must strengthen overall planning."

Tian Huisheng pointed out that the teaching materials for major themes should adhere to the full coverage of the stages, subjects and types, strengthen the integrated design, vertical penetration, link between the stages, the learning requirements are gradual, spiraling, horizontal relevance, subject coordination, and the learning content has its own focus. .

It is necessary to guide students to read the original text, but also to grasp the cognitive development characteristics of students' learning from concrete to abstract, from perceptual to rational, from phenomenon to essence, and emphasize the combination of storytelling and reasoning, and the combination of vivid cases and abstract concepts.

Tian Huisheng said that in the arrangement of major subjects, the course materials should be covered by the whole subject, have their own emphasis, and avoid overlapping and repetition. In the arrangement of the semester, it should be progressive and spiral.

The concepts and theories involved in major themes are relatively abstract. The cognitive level and life experience of students at the stage of compulsory education are limited, and they must be transformed. They cannot simply copy documents or label them.

Students have limited learning time, and the total content of the courses must be controlled, and they cannot be set up individually.

In this regard, Tian Huisheng stated that the teaching materials for major themes should be combined with the characteristics of the subject, focusing on organic integration, and focusing on the comprehensive education effect. Folk stories are the main carriers, morality and the rule of law are based on related maxims, characters, stories, etc., and sports and health are based on ethnic folk traditional sports activities and martial arts.

It is understood that the Ministry of Education has currently issued the "Xi Jinping New Era Socialist Thought with Chinese Characteristics Curriculum Teaching Material Guide", "Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture in Primary and Secondary School Curriculum Teaching Material Guide", "Revolutionary Tradition into Elementary and Secondary School Curriculum Teaching Material Guide", and "Labor Education in Colleges, Primary and Secondary Schools" Guidance Outline (Trial)" National Security Education Guidance Outline for Universities, Middle Schools and Primary Schools.
