In collaboration with Region Västerbotten, the university distributes self-test kits, all to reduce the spread of infection when many new people meet in Umeå when the autumn term begins.
- Here we hand out keys but also urges to keep distance and we hope that the students test themselves and stay at home if they are ill, says Ejvår Falck, one of the administrators at the university who wears mouth guards to receive students from different parts of the world.
Afonso Domingues from Portugal will study economics and has expectations at a time when he avoids shutdowns of society:
- At home we have three lockdowns, I hope we avoid this, he says.
In total, Umeå University takes about 500 foreign students.
