It is estimated that about 150 - 200 liters of diesel have leaked into the ground between the lanes.
Contaminated soil masses have been excavated and taken care of during the morning.
A small amount of diesel has also leaked into the drinking water source Vättern and just before nine o'clock this morning there was an oil film on an area of about one hundred square meters.
- There is nothing that threatens Lake Vättern's water, and we have laid out booms, says Elin Isfall at the Rescue Service.
Closed by raw water pump
As a precautionary measure, the municipality of Jönköping has switched off the raw water pump at the smaller waterworks at Vätterleden.
This is instead supplied with water from tankers.
Shortly after lunchtime, the sea rescue unit arrived from Oxelösund to help with measures to prevent diesel from spreading in Lake Vättern.
- We are used to handling emissions so we will go out now and check what it looks like, says Pontus Ekström who is the officer on duty at the Coast Guard.
Expected to take time
The work to prevent the spread of diesel after the truck accident is expected to take several days.
- Now we have an embanked area, so we will be able to take care of this, says Elin Isfall.
