Already in 2019, the municipality of Varberg wanted to get permission for the new bird and lookout tower - shaped like a giant sheaf - at Naturum Getterön.

But the County Administrative Board sat cross-legged - the tower ended up too close to the Natura 2000 area and risked disrupting bird life.

The project has dragged on.

But now the municipality has found a new place, about a hundred meters further from the reserve boundary and the County Administrative Board gives the go-ahead for the construction.

The 12 meter high tower will be placed on Lassaberget, the new nature and recreation area that is being built up of lots that will be left over from the construction of the Varberg tunnel.
