Nigerian police confirmed on August 23 that a small town in Zamfara State in northwestern Nigeria was attacked by unidentified militants on the evening of the 22nd, resulting in 4 deaths and 50 abductions.

  The police said that a group of militants drove a motorcycle into the town of Golanamaye in the Maladong region of the state on the evening of the 22nd and opened fire on the local people, killing four people on the spot.

On the evening of August 15th, a college in Zamfara State was attacked by unidentified militants, resulting in the death of 1 policeman and 2 security guards, and the kidnapping of 16 people.
