The Health and Medical Care Regional Council believes that there is increasing evidence that a third dose provides important protection against covid, not least for the elderly and others in risk groups who received their vaccine last winter.

In the email to the Minister of Social Affairs, she writes that she is "very concerned about the fact that the spread of infection is increasing again and about the reports that come about the sick, fully vaccinated, in nursing homes in parts of the country".

- We now see how some fully vaccinated elderly people are re-infected.

Although the vaccine means that an illness in covid usually becomes less serious, it is bad enough and if a third dose can protect better, we need to start with it as soon as possible, says Anna Starbrink (L).

Previously, the region has requested information from the Swedish Public Health Agency regarding possible vaccination of children between 12 and 15 years of age.
