As noted on the website of the department, the corresponding appeal is connected with the refusal to coordinate the trip of the vice-speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev to Kharkov.

“Kosachev planned to visit Kharkov in his personal capacity to take part in the celebrations dedicated to the Day of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders on August 23, as well as to honor the memory of his great-uncle who died in the battles for this city in 1943 ... In the boorish and blasphemous manner inherent in Ukrainian diplomacy in recent years, the Russian senator was denied entry to Ukraine, ”the statement said.

At the same time, Zakharova noted that there are still people in Ukraine who "have preserved moral guidelines and honor the memory of Soviet fighters," and only thanks to them, solemn events were held in the Kharkov region to perpetuate the memory of those who fought against the Nazi invaders.

“We call on the Ukrainian authorities to end the war with the memory of the real heroes of the Great Patriotic War and their descendants,” she added.

Earlier, Russia sent a note to Ukraine demanding to fulfill its obligations to protect military memorials in connection with plans to destroy a copy of the Great Patriotic War order on the Field of Mars in Lvov.
