23 August 2021First transported from Kabul to Kuwait City with an Air Force C130J, the refugees then continued their journey to Rome with another military flight carried out with a Boeing KC767.



As already happened for previous arrivals, all evacuees will now be subjected to anti-Covid health prophylaxis at the airport before being then transferred by Army coach to facilities dedicated to their reception. 



On 22 August, 367 people were evacuated from Kabul aboard the C130J of the Air Force. About 800 are ready to be boarded on the next flights departing from the Afghan capital. In total, 2,497 Afghan citizens have been evacuated since the beginning of the Aquila operation. Since last June, when 228 Afghans were brought to our country with the Aquila 1 operation, about 3,000 citizens have been placed in safety, 1701 (of which 454 women and 546 children) of whom have arrived in Italy in the last 7 days.



For the operation Aquila Omnia, planned and directed by the Operational Command of Vertice Interforze (Covi), commanded by General Luciano Portolano, eight aircraft, four KC767s that alternate between the area of ​​operation and Italy and four C130Js, located in Kuwait, from which the airlift to Kabul departs. Over 1,500 Italian soldiers from Covi are involved in this complex operation for the Rome-Kabul airlift at the request of the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini.
