Firefighters still mobilized in the Southeast.

While the violent fire that started a week ago on the Côte-d'Azur, devastating 7,000 hectares, was brought under control on Monday, the firefighters are facing a new outbreak of fire, this time in the north -est of Aix-en-Provence.

The fire started this Monday at the end of the afternoon near Jouques (Bouches-du-Rhône).

“About two hectares have been covered so far,” explained a spokesperson for the Bouches-du-Rhône firefighters.

The forest fire, which started at 5:15 p.m., is still evolving.

180 firefighters and 40 machines on site

About 180 firefighters are now on site with 40 devices to try to control the fire, as well as civil security air assets, in particular a Canadair.

"It is a fire which progresses quietly with a wind of 20 to 30 km, specified the spokesman of the firefighters.

It is located on the east of the town of Jouques.

We hope, with the resources on site, to quickly bring this fire under control.

The firefighters ask motorists to avoid the area so as not to interfere with interventions.
