Negotiations between Zelensky and Merkel began in Kiev

"A meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is on a visit to Ukraine, has begun at the Mariinsky Palace in Kiev," the statement said.

As noted, the leader of Ukraine greeted the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany on the porch of the palace, after which the presentation of the delegations took place.

After the talks between Zelensky and Merkel in a one-on-one format, a meeting with representatives of the media is envisaged and the continuation of negotiations in an expanded format.

Earlier, the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, said that Merkel would visit Kiev on August 22, where she intends to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
