A
12-year-old boy
died this afternoon on the north coast of Ibiza after suffering an accident while diving.
The little boy, of
French
nationality
, was in the area of the coastal town of
Portinatx
, near the beach des Port.
He had accompanied his father and the skipper of the boat in which they were sailing, who were currently doing lung dives to practice underwater fishing.
According to Civil Guard sources, the minor has drowned after suffering an accident.
According to the first information about the tragic event, during one of his dives in a rocky area of the coast,
the leads
of the diving equipment would have caught in the rocks, which has prevented him from returning to the surface to take a breath.
Upon realizing the serious situation, the boy's companions have been unable to do anything to save his life, nor have the emergency teams who have traveled to the area by ambulance after receiving the warning.
The two adults have taken the body of the minor out of the sea, brought it to shore and called for help, but unfortunately resuscitation has not been possible.
It is the
third
fatality by drowning in the last month in the Balearic Islands, after a 72-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man died between the end of July and the beginning of August while swimming on the beaches of Mallorca.
