23 Palestinians were injured, including two in critical condition, during clashes with the Israeli occupation army east of Gaza City on the 52nd anniversary of the burning of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The occupation soldiers fired bullets and tear gas canisters at hundreds of Palestinians who flocked today, Saturday, to the Gaza Strip borders, to participate in the festival of the 52nd anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health indicated that two injured, one of them a child, were in critical condition.

And Anadolu Agency reported that medical teams transferred a number of Palestinians to the Gaza Strip hospitals, who were wounded by Israeli army bullets and tear gas canisters near the eastern border of Gaza.

She stated that among the injured was a press photographer working for the Jordanian channel.

On Thursday, the Israeli occupation army decided to reinforce its forces on the borders of the Gaza Strip, in anticipation of confrontations with the Palestinians.

"The army will increase its forces and readiness in the Gaza Strip before the (Day of Rage) planned by (the Islamic Resistance Movement) Hamas," the official Israeli broadcaster said.

And August 21 of each year coincides with the anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Australian named Michael Dennis Rohn.

The incident occurred on August 21, 1969, and the fire consumed the entire contents of the eastern wing of the Qibli Mosque on the southern side of the mosque, including its historical pulpit, known as the Salah al-Din pulpit.
