New features for all electric vehicle users in Dubai

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has developed the "Green Charger" services to include, among others, the availability of the "Smart Charging of Electric Vehicles" service to all users of commercial and non-commercial electric vehicles, allowing them to charge their vehicles easily and conveniently at more than 300 of the DEWA's "Green Charger" stations in different parts of Dubai.

The authority also added the feature of locating the nearest green charger station, and ensuring that it is currently available or not used by other users, in a step that reflects its keenness to promote sustainable mobility in Dubai and increase the number of beneficiaries of the services of the "green charger" initiative.

The smart charging service for electric vehicles enables customers who have electric vehicle accounts with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, as well as visiting users (who are not registered in the electric vehicle accounts service with the Authority) to charge electric vehicles in a smart way by scanning the QR Code installed on the charger stations Green is affiliated with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and available in various locations in Dubai.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said that the move comes within the framework of the authority's efforts to encourage the use of sustainable means of transportation, such as electric and hybrid vehicles, and as part of its efforts to provide innovative and environmentally friendly solutions to contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the transport and communications sector. As for the authority's customers registered in the "green charger" services, they can benefit from the service by logging into their account with the authority through the authority's smart application. The authority allows free shipping for owners of non-commercial cars until December 31, 2021.

The service also allows customers to locate charging stations located throughout the Emirate of Dubai using the authority’s website and smart application, in addition to a variety of digital map platforms such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, Four Square, and Factual. (Factual), What3Words, GIS2, Careem, TomTom and Here Maps, as well as dedicated charging station platforms (Plugshare, Electromaps and Yellowmaps). )).

To benefit from the free charging that DEWA offers to owners of non-commercial vehicles until December 31, 2021, the charging must be at public charging stations, not at home charging stations.

As for the owners of commercial vehicles belonging to institutions, companies, governmental and semi-governmental bodies, they are required to pay a fee of 29 fils per kWh.
