Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, apologized for the controversy surrounding the filming of 'Mukbang' with taste columnist Hwang Gyo-ik at the time of the fire at the Coupang Logistics Center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, in June.

In a post on his SNS, Governor Lee acknowledged that he had not reached the level of his judgment and the public's eyes and said he would apologize.

“At that time, we received a real-time situation report from Changwon, Gyeongnam, and decided that it was necessary to take command of the site late at night during the response measures, so we canceled the schedule in Goseong-gun the next day and visited the accident site at around 1:30 in the morning.”

“I thought I did my best, but the point is that I should have canceled all my schedules and went to the site sooner,” he lowered his stance.

Governor Lee added, "I will respect the citizens of Gyeonggi-do who have been entrusted with their authority and responsibilities in the future, and will serve with a lower attitude and more loss."

Prior to this, through a local media report, a local media reported that Lee arrived at the scene of the fire at 1:32 a.m. the next day, about 20 hours after the fire broke out at the Coupang Logistics Center in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, at 5:36 a.m. on June 17. It has been revealed through reports.
