21 August 2021 Considering the number of ICU admissions and deaths in the over 80s, where vaccination coverage is around 90%, it is noted that "in the last 30 days the ICU hospitalization rate of full-cycle vaccinated people is seventeen times lower than the unvaccinated (0.4 versus 7.5 per 100,000 inhabitants) while the death rate is eight times higher in the unvaccinated than in the full cycle vaccinated (12.5 versus 1.6 per 100,000 inhabitants) " while the hospitalization rate for the unvaccinated is over nine times higher than for the full cycle vaccinated (103.3 versus 11.1 hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants).

This is what is contained in the extended document relating to the weekly monitoring published by the Higher Institute of Health on the Epicentro website which deepens the data relating to the effectiveness of vaccination.

"In the last 30 days - reads the ISS in-depth analysis - it is noted that 26.6% of Sars-CoV-2 diagnoses, 40.4% of hospitalizations, 55.8% of ICU admissions and 59.1% of the deaths in the over 80s occurred among those who did not receive any dose of the vaccine ".

The overall effectiveness of incomplete vaccination in preventing infection is 65.1%, while that of complete vaccination is 82.5%. "This result indicates that in the full course vaccinated group the risk of contracting the infection is 83% lower than in the unvaccinated group."
