The opposition Wakit Tama coalition called once again to take to the streets of the Chadian capital this Saturday morning, August 21, to challenge the way in which the military is managing the transition.

A request had been filed with the authorities, but the authorities only authorized the march for three organizations that had officially signed the request.

What created a certain hesitation, and the opposition ended up canceling the rally.

The Hamama roundabout in N'Djamena was almost empty this Saturday morning.

It was the starting point of this announced demonstration.

Only a few people gathered in the early hours but they were, in fact, people who had not yet heard of the information.

It must be said that Wakit Tama met until late, Friday evening, to finally make the decision to withdraw his call to parade.

We do not want to enter into the plot of the Transitional Military Council

," said the spokesperson for the opposition coalition before adding:

"

We do not want to march in dispersed order.

 "

The Chadian authorities had indeed validated the march but only for three organizations: the same ones which had signed this letter of request for authorization.

For lack of having done the same, the other members of Wakit Tama therefore did not have the right to demonstrate this Saturday.

Wakit Tama not recognized by the government

We do not recognize Wakit Tama as an entity,"

explains government spokesman Abderaman Koulamallah, who claims to have negotiated until 4:00 pm on Friday with opponents.

According to him,

“they wanted to go to the clash.

This is unacceptable in these times of transition.

We are transparent.

 "

Max Loalngar, for his part, maintains Wakit Tama's will: “

The next march will be done with or without authorization.

The spokesperson for the coalition does not specify a date.
