Thus, the roof had been cut with a grinder, the Citroën logo had been repainted and replaced by an Audi logo on the front of the vehicle and a BMW logo on the rear.

Also, they were driving around with a plastic iguana strapped to the back seat.

Once their car was transformed, the two holidaymakers, who are passionate about mechanics, then hit the road to reach Biscarosse, in the Landes.

Their vehicle has not been immobilized

But while they were traveling on the A20 motorway, near Menet-sur-Vatan, north of Châteauroux, they were stopped by the gendarmes.

The soldiers drew up two tickets of 135 € for a "lack of technical control" and the "modification without declaration of a vehicle put into circulation", they indicated to

Contrary to what is written on Facebook, their vehicle has not been immobilized.

"If the vehicle had been that of a professional, it would have been seized, but as regards that of an individual, there was no immobilization", explained the gendarmerie.

The two men were able to set off again in the direction of Biscarrosse, an hour late on their route but still accompanied by their plastic iguana, which they nicknamed Stevy.
