- Spanish justice decides to lift the curfew in Barcelona -

A court in the very touristy region of Catalonia, in northeastern Spain, has decided to lift the curfew introduced in July in Barcelona and other municipalities by the Catalan government to curb a new wave of Covid -19.

- Travelers from Morocco and Algeria on the red list in France -

Travelers from Morocco and Algeria who have not been vaccinated will have to justify a compelling reason, present a negative test and isolate themselves for ten days on their arrival in France, after the placement of these two countries on the red list of the circulation of Covid-19.

- EU recognizes Turkish and Ukrainian health passes -

The European Union will recognize from Friday the national "health passes" of Turkey, Ukraine and North Macedonia, allowing their residents to travel more easily in Europe, announced the European Commission.

- USA: 3rd dose for Biden, 3 contaminated senators -

US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill will both receive a third dose of the vaccine once the Pfizer and Moderna serum booster campaign is launched in the United States at the end of September.

Three vaccinated senators - Republican Roger Wicker (70), Democrat John Hickenlooper (69) and independent Angus King (77) - announced Thursday they tested positive for Covid-19 after experiencing mild symptoms .

The Senate has not sat since August 11.

- Pfizer and AstraZeneca against the Delta variant -

Pfizer / BioNtech's vaccine is more effective in fighting infections linked to the Delta variant of the coronavirus than that of Oxford / AstraZeneca, but its effectiveness is declining faster, according to a British study.

- Death of a Japanese legend -

Sonny Chiba, martial arts expert and legend of Japanese cinema who appeared in "Kill Bill" by Quentin Tarantino, died of complications related to Covid-19 at the age of 82, we learned Thursday from his agent.

Born Sadaho Maeda in 1939 in Fukuoka, in southwestern Japan, he devoted himself to a large number of martial arts in the 1960s, notably becoming an expert in karate, his favorite discipline.

- Prison for refusal of the mask in Singapore -

A Briton was sentenced to six weeks in prison in Singapore for failing to wear a mask and assaulting police officers, authorities in the Southeast Asian country said.

- Almost 4.4 million dead -

The Covid-19 pandemic has killed at least 4,392,364 around the world, according to an assessment established by AFP from official sources, Thursday in the middle of the day.

The United States is the country most affected with deaths, ahead of Brazil (572,641 dead), India (433,049), Mexico (250,469) and Peru (197,659).

Iran crossed the 100,000 dead mark on Thursday.

The WHO estimates, taking into account the excess mortality directly and indirectly linked to Covid-19, that the toll of the pandemic could be two to three times higher than that calculated from official figures.
