Nearly 50 Bulgarian berry pickers were stranded earlier this summer in a parking lot along road 94 in Älvsbyn municipality and a decision was later made to help the Bulgarians home.

PT is the first to now report that the berry pickers have been infected.

The train journey down to Stockholm took place on Wednesday last week.

- We did not know if they were infected when they left Älvsbyn so they traveled like any regular traveler.

We do not know when they became infected, says social manager Hans Nyberg.

Informed staff

There were three municipal employees wearing protective equipment standing on the train platform and handing out the train tickets to those who were going with the train.

The berry pickers must be at a residence in Stockholm and there is currently no information on the date they will go home to Bulgaria.
