An African-American man surprises and attacks a person with an "axe" inside a Manhattan bank

On Wednesday, the Daily Mail published a video clip of the moment an African-American man with antecedents attacked another with a sharp object "a hatchet" at Chase Bank in Manhattan.

The footage, recorded by a surveillance camera installed inside the bank, showed the victim standing at an ATM machine when the offender pulled an ax out of a dark bag and walked behind him, then hit him repeatedly as the victim desperately tries to defend himself.

According to the clip, after the attacker finished assaulting the victim, he proceeded to smash the ATM screens with his sharp instrument.

New York police officials indicated that the victim sustained severe head and right leg injuries.

Yonkers police said he had three previous arrests in 2020 on charges of harassment, stalking and criminal contempt.

And the New York Daily News reported that one of the criminal's close relatives said that the perpetrator had previously served in the US Army and fought in the invasion of Iraq.
