INTERVIEW

The Summer Days of Europe Ecology The Greens have just opened in Poitiers and the ecologist party is already active around the online primary that it is organizing to nominate its presidential candidate.

Thursday evening on Europe 1, the national secretary of EELV, Julien Bayou, clearly expressed the objectives of his party for the election of 2022. "We are committed to a very high ambition: we want to win this presidential election", ensures Julien Bayou on Europe 1. Before moving on: "we have to get out of the return match that we are promised between Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron".

The boss of EELV qualifies, however: the Greens will not "win alone" but with a "coalition of other political forces and the support of civil society".

And Julien Bayou is rather optimistic.

"Our challenge is to build this affirmation of political ecology," he says.

"We have seen a breakthrough in the Europeans, an anchoring in the municipal, a consolidation in the regional. We want to continue this path".

"We are ready, we are organized"

For him, his party is much better placed than his opponents, especially on the right.

Unlike Republicans, environmentalists managed to agree on holding an open, online primary.

"My alter ego on the right does not know how to organize the appointment of their champion. They are so divided that they are not even able to meet in the same place," he tackles, targeting Christian Jacob.

The registrants will have to decide between Delphine Batho, Jean-Marc Governatori, Yannick Jadot, Eric Piolle and Sandrine Rousseau. "We are ready, we are organized, we have answers to the various challenges facing society", finally affirms Julien Bayou, with a determined voice.
