The department reported that "according to the operational data of Avialesoohrana, 139 wildfires are active on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), 22 fires were eliminated per day on a total area of ​​over 105 thousand hectares."

"The area of ​​active combustion in the republic has decreased by a third and as of 12:30 Moscow time is 1.9 hectares," TASS reports.

Earlier, the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, instructed the regional government to develop a new program to protect forests from fires.
