The vacation is coming to an end. Has the child finished his summer homework?

In order to strengthen the health of children, based on previous explorations in various regions, the General Office of the Ministry of Education and other 15 departments issued the "Child and Adolescent Myopia Prevention and Control Bright Action Work Plan (2021-2025)" in April this year, proposing to "fully implement student sports during winter and summer vacations." Homework system".

This summer vacation is the first vacation after the new regulations were introduced.

Has the school "arranged" this special assignment?

What sports does the child do?

How many points can you get for this new assignment?

To this end, the reporter issued a questionnaire on homework for sports summer vacation to primary school students in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Henan, Fujian, Guangdong, and Liaoning provinces and cities, covering primary school students in grades one to six in urban and rural primary schools. As of press time, 1449 questionnaires were returned.

Looking at the leopard, the reporter discovered a lot of interesting phenomena.

  What is this new assignment?

Not long ago, the reporter issued questionnaires to the parents of elementary school students in cities, towns, and rural areas. As of mid-August, 1449 questionnaires were collected.

Among them, urban accounted for 43.82%, township accounted for 21.53%, rural accounted for 34.65%; male parents accounted for 53.49%, female parents accounted for 46.51%.

Grades 1 to 6 each account for 12% to 21%.

The reporter analyzed the questionnaire and interviewed some parents and teachers and found that in the face of this "new assignment", the performance of primary school students in different regions differed considerably.

——46.17% of the schools did not assign homework for physical education.

The reporter found that some areas only issued guidance documents, but did not make mandatory requirements for school home sports homework.

A principal of a primary school in the central region said that most of the school’s children are rural children.

However, a parent surnamed Li said that now rural children are also squeamish, "Aunts who like to play in the river will not let them go, and they are unwilling to work under the sun. They are bored at home watching TV and playing mobile phones every day."

—— Skipping has become the most popular sports job.

Among the children with sports homework, 71.41% of elementary school students had skipping rope in their sports summer homework this summer, followed by running (60.26%) and outdoor activities such as ball games (45.13%).

"This reflects the role of the exam baton." said Zhang Pengfei, the principal of Xiguan Primary School in Linyi County, Shanxi Province. Accounted for a large proportion.

——Sports homework, do it at home.

The results of the questionnaire show that 52.69% of primary school students exercise at home.

Is this appropriate?

Lu Jiandong, a researcher at the Tianjin Silk Road International Rehabilitation Research Institute and former doctor of the National Swimming Team, believes that the home environment is relatively small, the air circulation is not good, and the effect of primary school students’ exercise is not good. The sunshine is also good for bone growth."

However, exercising at home is really helpless.

Questionnaire data show that only 13.85% of primary school students exercise in professional sports venues.

Liang Linlin, the leader of the physical education and research team of a primary school in Tianjin, said: “There is only one standardized stadium in the town. At night, it is crowded with people, and there is no empty track if you want to take your children for a run.”

How to collect physical education homework?

Not long ago, the Ministry of Education issued the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Management of Physical Fitness and Health of Primary and Secondary School Students", which emphasized that students should be guaranteed one hour of physical activity in and out of school every day.

——Insufficient time for primary school students to exercise.

How long do primary school students exercise in reality?

The questionnaire shows that among elementary school students who have sports homework, less than 15% of the school requires more than 1 hour of exercise time. Nearly half of the elementary school students require exercise time of less than 30 minutes; among the elementary school students who have not assigned sports homework, they exercise more than 1 hour per day. Hours accounted for only 16.44%, and up to 40% of elementary school students "have no fixed exercise time."

"From the situation of the visits, this is basically a'herding sheep'. Exercise when you think of it, and forget it if you don't remember. It is difficult to achieve the effect of persisting in exercise." said a teacher in charge of a primary school in Shanxi Province.

——The school's "collecting homework" mechanism is difficult to implement.

Judging from the results of the questionnaire, the school supervises students to complete their homework by submitting text receipts, uploading pictures and videos, and "checking in" on mini programs.

However, an elementary school teacher in Tianjin found that some parents just "signed the job" and did not urge their children to do daily exercises.

At the same time, more than 30% of parents reported that the school has "no hard and fast requirements" for the completion.

Chai Xinyan, the fourth-grade class director of the No. 3 Primary School in Xiangfen County, Shanxi Province, believes that the school should play a supervisory responsibility for this new homework and actively explore effective supervision and encouragement methods to make children fall in love with sports.

  ——Many parents are very satisfied.

However, in families with homework for sports, the average score of parents for the completion of summer homework for sports for their children reached 4.19 points, and 47.82% of parents gave a full score of "very satisfied" (5 points).

About 15% of those who exercise for more than 1 hour, why half of the parents are still very satisfied?

In addition to the "encouragement points" of parents, this also reflects deep-seated problems.

Xiong Bingqi, the dean of the 21st Century Education Research Institute, believes that some parents are still immersed in the thinking of "exam-oriented sports" and value their scores, but are not concerned about their children's physique. They are easily satisfied with sports homework, and even help children get "high scores" by tricks. ".

How to make primary school students "active"?

The "2020 Tianjin Primary and Secondary School Students' Physical Health Monitoring Report" published this year shows that over 80% of boys lack upper limb strength, and the obesity rate of primary and secondary school students in Tianjin exceeds 20%.

This highlights the importance of sports homework.

Zhen Zhiping, a professor at the School of Physical Education and Sports of Beijing Normal University, said that winter and summer vacations are important periods for maintaining and improving the physical fitness of primary school students, and their role should not be ignored.

Experts call for schools to attach importance to sports homework and fully implement the requirements of the Ministry of Education.

Zhen Zhiping believes that it is possible to explore the development of some small programs and combine them with simple wearable devices to help children exercise in a safe and controllable situation. Use information technology to guide and urge parents and students to form a habit of exercising on time, so as to solve parents’ difficulties. Accompanying, filling out forms "walking through the scene" and other issues.

With limited professional sports venues, many parents called for more sports venues to be opened.

For example, schools can open playgrounds and sports halls to facilitate children's exercise during the holidays; parks and communities can add or modify sports equipment and venues for children to facilitate children's aerobic exercise.

More importantly, parents should take care of their children's physique.

Liang Linlin and Liu Chang, director of moral education at Yueyangdao Primary School in Tianjin, suggested that parents themselves should develop the habit of physical exercise, create a good sports atmosphere for their children, and cooperate with school teachers to supervise and urge children to engage in extra-school sports; in addition, schools can also pass after school starts. Carry out sports competitions, classroom sharing and other methods to urge students to maintain their enthusiasm for exercise.
