China News Service, August 18, according to Reuters, on the 17th local time, a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that Iran is accelerating the enrichment of uranium, which is now close to weapon level.

According to reports, Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility exploded and power cut on April 11. The production of the local main underground uranium enrichment plant was destroyed. The Iranian government accused Israel of launching “sabotage activities”.

According to the report, in response to this incident, Iran subsequently increased its uranium enrichment abundance from 20% in April to 60%.

The latest IAEA report shows that at present, Iran's uranium enrichment abundance is close to weapon level.

The Reuters report pointed out that the enrichment abundance of weapon-grade uranium is about 90%.

As Iran’s uranium enrichment limit stipulated in the Iran nuclear agreement is 3.67%, the United States and its European allies have warned that this move by Iran threatens the resumption of negotiations on the agreement.

The Iranian side reiterated that its nuclear program is peaceful and said it has notified the IAEA of its related activities.

The Iranian side also stated that if the United States returns to the agreement and lifts sanctions, "all Iranian measures to reduce implementation (plan) and confrontation will be reversible."

In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.

According to the agreement, Iran promised to restrict its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran.

In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of certain provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible."

On April 6, 2021, the parties involved in the Iranian nuclear agreement held talks in Vienna to discuss the issue of the United States and Iran's resumption of compliance.
