amendment to the Media Arbitration Act, which stipulates punitive damages, crossed the threshold of the Agenda Mediation Committee of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the National Assembly yesterday.

In the amendment passed by the Agenda Mediation Committee, a part of the 'presumption of intentional or gross negligence' clause, which is the core of the controversy, was changed.

Cases of maliciously violating the law during the reporting process were reduced from the original six articles to four, including deleting the articles.

In addition, the clause linking the compensation amount to the sales of the media was amended to 'actively consider the social influence of the media and the sales of the previous year'.

[Lee Byung-hoon / Democratic Party lawmaker: The opposition party's opinions were also gathered more, and this time, we filtered out a lot of articles that are likely to be misused in the field.]

Yesterday, the Agenda Coordination Committee said that the People's Power lawmakers who demanded this were missing. It was conducted with four lawmakers, Chae Beom-kwon.

The Agenda Mediation Committee is composed of the same number of members of the ruling and opposition parties, but when Rep. Kim Eui-gyeom of the Open Democratic Party, who was in fact a passport-oriented member of the opposition party, was assigned to the party, the power of the people protested and left.

The Democratic Party is expected to enforce the revision of the Media Arbitration Act at the plenary meeting of the Culture and Culture Committee to be held this morning despite the opposition of the people, and it is also likely to pass the plenary session on the 25th.
