Dozens of green and socialist mayors of France say they are ready to welcome Afghan refugees in their city while a second exfiltration took place on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday from Kabul.

Some city officials are already organizing to open their doors to refugees.

A large part of the French who were at the embassy and 184 Afghans left Kabul and are expected in Paris this Wednesday evening.

Monday in his speech Emmanuel Macron announced that it was the country's duty to protect those who are most threatened, while protecting themselves from irregular migratory flows.

Words that aroused the indignation of part of the political class.

Since then, many mayors, mainly on the left, have said they are ready to welcome Afghan refugees in their city.

Calls have indeed been launched on social networks by several municipal officials such as Eric Piolle in Grenoble, Grégory Doucet in Lyon, Pierre Hurmic in Bordeaux, Benoît Payan in Marseille or François Rebsamen in Dijon.

This is also the case of the socialist mayor of Montpellier, Michaël Delafosse, for whom opening its doors to Afghan refugees is a duty.

"France is the country of the Enlightenment and Afghanistan falls into the hands of religious obscurantism. We also have a duty of asylum. And there is a very strong mobilization on the part of the Afghan community in our city. who has family there and is very worried. It is also our duty to be at his side, "he said.

Like him, the mayors are already organizing to open their doors to refugees.

The environmentalist mayor of Besançon, Anne Vignot, who wishes to challenge Emmanuel Macron following his speech, is working with local communities to consider reception structures.

"We have residences which can be used as well as a certain number of housing which can be mobilized for a certain time in particular situations. Because not only do we need emergency accommodation but we also need a more global reception to build. the future, ”she said.

On the right, moreover, elected officials are worried about a potential wave of migration. This Wednesday morning, the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi, clearly stated that he did not wish to receive refugees in his city.
