The Taliban announces a general amnesty for all state employees

The Taliban announced on Tuesday a "general amnesty" for all state employees, calling on them to return to work, two days after seizing power in Afghanistan following a lightning attack.

"A general amnesty was issued for everyone (...), so you can return to your normal life with complete confidence," the movement said in a statement.

The movement also urged women to join the government.

A member of the cultural committee of the Taliban movement, Inamullah Semanghani, made these statements today, Tuesday, on the Afghan state television, which is now controlled by the movement.

"We don't want women to be victims," he said.

He added: "The structure of the government is not completely clear, but based on experience, there must be complete leadership and all parties should join the government."
