Nobuyuki Hanashi, a former member of the House of Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party and a minister of home affairs, died on the 14th of this month due to senility.

Mr. Hari is from Miho Village, Ibaraki Prefecture, and after serving as a secretary to the Diet, he ran for the first time in the House of Representatives election in 1967 from the former Ibaraki 1st district, and was elected 12 times in a row.



During this time, he served as Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission in the Third Nakasone Cabinet, and also worked on constitutional amendment as the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party's Constitutional Investigation.



He did not run for the House of Representatives election in 2003, and retired from politics by handing over to his son-in-law, Yasuhiro Hanashi.



According to people familiar with the matter, Mr. Hari died on the 14th of this month due to senility.
