“President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke today about the events in Afghanistan,” the statement said.
As noted, the parties discussed the need to continue close coordination between allies and democratic partners on policy towards Afghanistan in the future.
In addition, Biden and Johnson agreed to hold a virtual meeting of the G7 leaders next week to discuss a common strategy and approach to the situation in Afghanistan.
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the United States is in contact with Russia and China on the evacuation of people from Afghanistan, including residents of the republic who helped the American military.
