A woman subjected herself to 10 years in prison for 3,500 dirhams

The Criminal Court began the trial of a 24-year-old Brazilian visitor, who hid about 2.6 kilograms of cocaine in secret pockets in her two travel bags while entering the country through Dubai Airport, to deliver it to a person in exchange for exposing herself to a penalty of up to ten years in exchange for 3,500 dirhams.


An inspector of Dubai Customs stated in the investigations of the Public Prosecution that she was at the head of her work when the internal devices department suspected the two bags of the accused, so she was followed up and arrested, noting that she asked her if she wanted to disclose something, and she replied in the negative.


By searching the first bag, a secret pocket was found near the handle, and near the tires, and by opening it, a cardboard envelope was found with carbon paper inside and a plastic bag with a white powder that had the characteristic appearance of cocaine.


Another quantity was also found in two secret pockets in the second bag, and she admitted that she was a person in her country who asked her to deliver drugs to another in the UAE who would communicate with her through the Social Media application, stressing that she was aware of the presence of cocaine in her bags and did so for 50 thousand Brazilian riyals, equivalent to 3,500 dirhams.
