Trump accuses Biden of surrendering to the Taliban

Former US President Donald Trump has accused his current successor, Joe Biden, of "surrendering" to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Trump said on Monday that Biden's Afghanistan policy had destroyed "confidence in America's power and influence," adding that the consequences of withdrawing U.S. forces from Afghanistan under his leadership would have been "completely different."

Trump had paved the way during his term for the withdrawal of US forces through an agreement he concluded with the Taliban, and according to Trump's plans, these forces were supposed to be withdrawn last May, but Biden postponed the withdrawal while sticking to his predecessor's plan.

Biden had announced the withdrawal of the 2,500 remaining soldiers in Afghanistan with the twentieth anniversary of the attacks of September atheist ten, before this date was recently brought forward to the end of August.

For his part, Trump's former national security adviser, John Bolton, said in an interview with Radio (NPR) today that it is likely that Trump would have acted in the same way as Biden, noting that the latter stuck to the "wrong" policy of Trump.
