In Senegal, the rains of the last few days have already caused damage in several districts of Dakar as well as in several localities of the country.

These floods are repeated every year during the rainy season, to the great despair of the populations.

RFI went to the Rufisque district, which was particularly affected.

Puddles and pools of water clutter the sandy streets of Rufisque where cars and carts find it difficult to pass.

Omar Diop, a resident of the neighborhood, since 2004, has installed concrete blocks at the entrance to his house to protect it from flooding.

But the water still rises above her ankles, in the entire central courtyard of her house, in the toilets and in the parental bedroom.

The bed, the feet in the water ... difficult to sleep, not to mention the inability to use the sanitary facilities.

A little further, the same situation for Irma Sall.

Her daughter empties the water from the different rooms with large buckets which she throws in the street.

A situation that despairs the neighborhood chief, Clément Ntab, who requires state intervention to install real pipes.

Last September, 30 billion CFA francs were announced by Macky Sall to finance flood management.

However, they were repeated in the districts of Mbao, Keur Massar, Parcelles Assainies of Dakar or in the cities of Touba and Mbacké.

Rains are still forecast for the coming week.
