Former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Yoshimasa Hayashi of the Liberal Democratic Party, who was elected to the Yamaguchi constituency of the House of Councilors, resigned as a member of the House of Councilors on the 16th to run for the next House of Representatives election from the Yamaguchi 3rd district.

Former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Yoshimasa Hayashi of the Liberal Democratic Party announced last month that he would run for the next House of Representatives election from the Yamaguchi 3rd district, and submitted a request to resign as a member of the House of Councilors on the 16th.

And Mr. Hayashi's resignation was immediately approved.

In the Yamaguchi 3rd district of the House of Representatives, the incumbent Chief Cabinet Secretary Kawamura of the Liberal Democratic Party is planning to run for office, so it is expected that a conservative division election will be held.

Fumiko Sakamoto of the Constitutional Democratic Party will also run as an official candidate for the party.

With Mr. Hayashi's resignation, the Yamaguchi constituency of the House of Councilors will hold a by-election in October based on the provisions of the Public Offices Election Law.
