Lebanese President: I will not resign and will carry out my duties until the end

Lebanese President General Michel Aoun expressed his hope that a new government will be formed in the coming days to curb the current crisis in Lebanon, and stressed that he does not intend to resign from his post.

And the Lebanese National News Agency quoted him as saying today, Monday: "I will not resign and will carry out my duties until the end, and I hope that the stage of rebuilding Lebanon psychologically and financially will begin with me, provided that the new president will complete it at a later time."

And he added, "The President of the Republic, despite his lost powers, is a partner in forming the government with the designated prime minister, and he has the right to choose from among the names presented in light of his moral authority."

He stressed his determination to "continue the fight against corruption," and said, "No one will make me feel ashamed that I am in my position or that I am keen to continue what I started in this framework."

He expressed his hope to reduce "the current crisis by forming a new government during the next few days, despite some efforts to obstruct this formation."
