Lavrov informed Blinken about the Russian assessments of the situation and about the contacts of the Russian embassy with representatives of the political forces of Afghanistan.

The parties agreed to continue consultations with the participation of representatives of China, Pakistan, other interested countries and the UN.

Earlier, Lavrov and the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry discussed the situation in Afghanistan.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country on August 15.
