(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission interprets how "large-scale nucleic acid screening" "outperforms the virus"

China News Service, Yangzhou, August 16 (Reporter Cui Jiaming and Yang Yanci) On the 16th, the Information Office of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province held the second press conference on the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Zhang Jinhong, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission, explained to the public why large-scale nucleic acid screening is required and the role of this in controlling the development of the epidemic.

Zhang Jinhong introduced that the source of infectious disease prevention and control is to find and control the source of infection, cut off the source of infection, and protect susceptible people.

How to find the source of infection?

Nucleic acid detection is currently the most effective method.

After the outbreak, when the spread of the infection is unknown, large-scale population nucleic acid screening can detect infected people as soon as possible, implement more precise prevention and control, and minimize the chance of exposure of the general population to the virus.

Zhang Jinhong introduced that the 7 rounds of nucleic acid screening in Yangzhou found cases of 63, 147, 109, 69, 70, 47, and 21 respectively. The process of rising and falling can be clearly seen, and the total number is reaching a peak (second and first). After three rounds), it drops steadily.

The second is the source of the cases. The first to sixth rounds of control population (including isolation points and middle-high-risk populations) accounted for 65.1%, 59.1%, 61.4%, 69.5%, 65.7%, 76.6%, and 21 cases in the seventh round. All were found in the controlled population, and no cases were found in fever clinics and the general population.

"It can be seen that after a period of time (also in the second and third rounds) of stalemate, the new cases are basically concentrated in the controlled population, and the spread of the virus is controlled to a certain extent." Zhang Jinhong said.

According to his introduction, judging from the epidemiological characteristics of the cases in this round of the epidemic, the median incubation period of the cases was within 5 days, and most of them did not exceed 8 days.

It has been nearly 20 days since July 28. After multiple rounds of nucleic acid testing, the screening time span exceeded the 14-day longest incubation period of the new crown, indicating that the area where no infected person is currently found is less likely to have an infected person.

Zhang Jinhong said, “Although the nucleic acid screening in key areas in Yangzhou since the 13th has found that the cases have all come from quarantine or controlled areas, they are still at the key node of epidemic prevention and control. We cannot relax our vigilance at all and prevent and control measures in all aspects. It still needs to be strictly implemented and enforced."

Finally, Zhang Jinhong reminded citizens that when participating in nucleic acid testing, they need to maintain a "1 meter line" safe distance, do not gather when waiting for testing, do not chat, do not touch public objects casually, do not eat, do not smoke, or drink. After sampling, you must put on a spare mask before leaving, and wash your hands immediately after returning home. (Finish)
