The new Hisingsbron between Norra and Södra Älvstranden is starting to be completed.

The bridge opened to motor traffic, cyclists and pedestrians in May and now it is time for the trams to start operating the bridge.

On Monday the 16th of August, the first tram will run up the bridge.

- The new bridge will be a main artery for public transport and connect Gothenburg across the river, says Susanne Wiberg, project manager at Gothenburg City's traffic office, in a press release.

During the summer, the tracks from the old bridge have been switched to the new one.

Replacement buses have operated the tram lines that cross the river during the track work.

In connection with the tram traffic being released, the western side of the bronze will also open for cyclists and pedestrians.
