August 16, 2021The excessive power of the African anticyclone baptized "Lucifer" is about to end but not the heat.

From today comes a gradual change in the atmospheric circulation responsible for the arrival of some storms and a general "refresh" but it will only be a flash in the pan.

In fact, summer is ready to return in style.

The site IlMeteo.it reports that from today the unstable and cooler North Atlantic flow will drop in latitude just enough to make the anticyclone retreat from the incandescent temperatures of recent days. The fresh air at high altitude that will reach Italy will be responsible for the formation of numerous storms (strong and with hail) that from the Lombardy and Triveneto Alps will extend towards the evening to the pre-alpine sectors and more occasionally on the flat ones.

From tomorrow the atmospheric instability will also reach the central Adriatic belt, therefore the Apennines. With the entry of the mistral, temperatures will begin to decrease up to 10-12 degrees, thus returning to the average of the period first in the North and then also in the Center-South. After this short but long-awaited breath of less hot air, the sub-tropical anticyclone will be ready to take back the stolen goods. From Friday, but especially from next weekend, temperatures will easily go back to over 33-35 degrees over most of Italy.

'Yellow' alert in Friuli Venezia Giulia

The Civil Protection of the Fvg has issued a "yellow" alert for hydrogeological criticality due to storms, even strong, expected in the next few hours in the region. The weather warning lasts for 24 hours and started at 6 am this morning. The anticyclone of African origin - the note specifies - by retreating will favor the influx of more humid southern currents in the lower strata. Tomorrow, cooler currents from northern Europe will begin to flow in, which will progressively favor greater instability in the Alpine belt, and subsequently also in the rest of the Fvg. According to forecasts, the weather will therefore be unstable, with probable thunderstorms scattered even strong, which on the mountain area, while on the coast in the evening will arrive in the night. On the coast, wind from the south or south-westerly will generally blow moderately. Following thunderstorms, strong to strong north or north-westerly winds will also be possible with probable scattered thunderstorms. On the coast and in the eastern areas, moderate to strong bora will blow. The occurrence of such events - warns the Civil Protection - may lead to local crisis situations in the minor hydrographic network and urban drainage and local phenomena of instability of the slopes with local interruptions to the road network. The occurrence of such events - warns the Civil Protection - may lead to local crisis situations in the minor hydrographic network and urban drainage and local phenomena of instability of the slopes with local interruptions to the road network. The occurrence of such events - warns the Civil Protection - may lead to local crisis situations in the minor hydrographic network and urban drainage and local phenomena of instability of the slopes with local interruptions to the road network.

In Trentino Alto Adige landslide overwhelms and kills a farmer

A violent wave of bad weather hit the border valleys between Trentino and Alto Adige during the night. In particular in the Saretino and Valdurna valleys where a person died after being overwhelmed by a mudslide. The victim is a farmer who left the house to check the road leading to the barn when, suddenly, part of the hill above gave way. The fire brigade and mountain rescue were immediately alerted: there was nothing for the man to do.
