August 16, 2021 Ultraconservative Cardinal Raymond L. Burke is hospitalized in Wisconsin with covid-19 and is currently on a respirator.

His press office announced it on Twitter.

The message reports that doctors are "encouraged by his progress" and urges the faithful to recite the Rosary for his health.

The high prelate, 73, has always been very critical of vaccinations, so much so that he also reported the false news that it serves to inject a microchip under the skin, and contrary to masks and social distancing.

Former Archbishop of Saint Louis, Burke is one of America's most conservative prelates. He denied communion to Democratic candidate John Kerry because he was not opposed to abortion and in an interview he accused the Catholics who had voted for Barack Obama of "collaborating with evil". He had lashed out against the possibility of making vaccines against Covid mandatory, saying that this would "violate the integrity of citizens". Appointed cardinal by Benedict XVI, Burke then attacked Pope Francis. Bergoglio deprived him of the post of prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, giving him the ceremonial office of patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta
