The Libyan Joint Military Committee (5+5) announced that it had addressed the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity to freeze military agreements and memoranda of understanding concluded with any country.

In a statement issued on Saturday evening, the committee stated that it had agreed to set measures and an urgent plan to expel foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya without exception as soon as possible.

The committee called on the members of the Political Forum to quickly adopt the constitutional rule, and to stay away from what narrow interests called for, so that the Libyans can have their right to the elections next December.

The statement came at the conclusion of a meeting held by the committee in the city of Sirte.

The Committee reiterated its demand for a speedy appointment of a Minister of Defense.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dabaiba has held the position of Minister of Defense since the formation of the government last March.

The committee held the political dialogue forum, if it fails, any consequences that may lead to a breach of the ceasefire agreement, stressing the start of taking measures to open the Buqrin-Al-Jufra road, as well as the start of completing the second phase of demining the coastal road linking the east and west of the country.

She indicated that a new exchange of detainees had been agreed upon within days.
