This is about 30 lunches per day.

To keep the budget down, the social welfare committee has decided to close the restaurants at three sheltered housing units in Varberg.

A decision that aroused anger and sadness among those affected and relatives.

- I understand that relatives are upset but I would be happy if they think one step further, we must also take care of other groups, says Erland Linjer.

Relatives worried

Annett Wiktorsson, daughter of one of those affected by the closure.

She believes that the savings are short-term as the decision can lead to increased mental illness for the elderly.

- We know that the ill health of the elderly increases and then you can not reduce these activities, then you have to ask for money from the municipal board, says Annett Wiktorsson, relative.

When the decision was made within the social welfare committee, no impact assessment was made, something that Annett questioned.
