The Dubai Criminal Court started the trial of an (Asian) clearing agent, who offered a customs inspector a bribe of 200 dirhams for each customs certificate he stamps without being subject to fees or customs inspection, with a total of 1,600 dirhams for eight certificates of shipments that the accused requested to pass without passing through the radiation inspection devices or manual.

The accused confessed, in the investigations of the Public Prosecution, that he is a clearance representative with a company, and the inspector has known the author for about two years by virtue of his frequent visits to the customs of Jebel Ali Port, pointing out that 10 days before the commission of the incident, their company was in the process of exporting three shipments outside the country, She was supposed to be subject to the so-called thorough inspection, so he wandered around the customs building to search for any acquaintances to help him avoid being subjected to inspection.

The accused added that he spoke with the inspector after several days, and asked him to clear those shipments without delay or pay customs fees or inspections, and he will give him 200 dirhams for each customs certificate he stamps with a total of 1600 dirhams for eight certificates.

He indicated that they had agreed on an appointment in the Al-Twar area, and he brought with him the customs certificates to be passed, and he rode with him in the car and gave him the certificates and the amount of 1600 dirhams, only to be surprised by the policemen storming the car and arresting him.

For his part, the customs inspector said, in the investigations of the Public Prosecution, that the accused persistently failed to adhere to the laws and procedures, to avoid paying fees or inspection and was warned several times, pointing out that as a result of his actions, customs certificates were referred to what is known as strict inspection, which requires more fees. .

He added that the accused met his deputy previously and presented him with a number of simple customs certificates and asked him to pass them without being subject to fees or inspection, and he offered him a sum of money, but his colleague asked him not to repeat it.

He indicated that the accused met him later and asked him to help him and hinted at his desire to offer him a bribe in exchange for passing some certificates, in exchange for 200 dirhams for each certificate. with crime.
