The French champion Rémi Cavagna (Deceuninck) won the Tour of Poland time trial on Saturday, contested over 19.1 km around Katowice, in front of his Portuguese teammate Joao Almeida who thus reinforces his yellow jersey on the eve of the 'arrival in Krakow.

Reigning French road champion and 2020 French time trial champion, Cavagna (26) was 13 seconds ahead of Almeida, and 16 seconds ahead of Pole Maciej Bodnar (Bora).

Cavagna had already won the Tour de Romandie chrono this season, on May 2 in Friborg.

But the good operation of the day is for Almeida, who consolidates his yellow jersey with this 2nd place, now ahead by 26 seconds (against 2 only on Saturday morning) the Slovenian Matej Mohoric (Bahrain), 9th of the day at 31 seconds.

A decisive advantage before the last stage, Zabrze-Krakow (145.1 km), which should end with a massive sprint and whose big favorite will be the Colombian Fernando Gaviria (UAE), already winner of the 3rd stage on Wednesday.

The Polish Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos), 5th Saturday at 19 seconds, found himself third overall (33 seconds), chasing the Italian Diego Ulissi (UAE) from the podium, only 14th in qualifying.
