China News Service, Toronto, August 13 (Reporter Yu Ruidong) The Canadian Federal Government announced on August 13 a plan to implement the new crown vaccine compulsory vaccination for civil servants and some federally regulated industries.

All commercial flights, inter-provincial trains and other means of transportation will require their passengers to be vaccinated by the end of October at the latest.

The Canadian government plans to implement mandatory vaccination requirements for all federal civil servants as early as the end of September.

For the few civil servants who cannot be vaccinated, accommodation or alternative measures may be adopted as appropriate.

For employees of federally regulated aviation, railway and water transportation departments, the authorities intend to implement mandatory vaccination measures as soon as possible before the end of October.

The same measures will be extended to include passengers on commercial flights, inter-provincial trains, and cruise ships with overnight accommodation services.

The Canadian government stated that it will further discuss the specific details of the implementation of compulsory vaccination measures with all relevant parties.

The authorities also called on federally regulated public companies and other employers to also require their employees to be vaccinated.

Canada’s two major aviation companies, Air Canada and WestJet, both issued statements welcoming the mandatory vaccination measures.

The Canadian government stated that since the country’s COVID-19 vaccination was launched in mid-December last year, less than 1% of confirmed cases have been fully vaccinated.

At present, more than 82% of eligible Canadians, that is, people over the age of 12, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 71% have achieved full vaccination.

Official data for 2020 show that there are about 300,000 civil servants in Canada, of which about 58% are located outside the capital region.

In the federally regulated industry, there are approximately 18,500 employer organizations employing 955,000 employees, accounting for approximately 6.2% of the national labor force.
