Around 6pm on Thursday, local time, five people were shot dead in Plymouth, UK.

One of the victims was identified as the perpetrator's own mother, according to the news agency AP.

A child who was shot in the street was a three-year-old girl, and her father was also shot afterwards.

Four of the five died on the spot while the fifth died in hospital from his injuries.

The man also shot and injured two other people on the street that the police have not yet identified.

The perpetrator shot himself to death in connection with the act.

No motive

The police are working to investigate the motive behind the act, among other things by investigating the man's social media.

There is no motive that we know at the moment, it will be investigated, says police chief Shaun Sawyer according to Reuters.

Several media outlets describe the 22-year-old as a lone wolf and refer to several videos he has published where he himself talks about his failed love life.
