Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and Czech Karolína Pliskova will meet in the semifinals of the Masters 1000 WTA in Montreal on Saturday, after their respective victories over Victoria Azarenka and Spain's Sara Sorribes.

Sabalenka, the third player in the world and seeded No. 1, won her third victory in four confrontations with her compatriot Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 6-4, in 1:22, with in particular seven aces in support.

Semi-finalist in Montreal in 2010 and 2011, Azarenka lost the opportunity to return to the top 10 in the world.

For her part, Karolina Pliskova, 6th player in the world and seeded N.4, made no details against Sara Sorribes, beaten 6-4, 6-0 in 1 hour 20 minutes.

The other two quarter-finals will pit the Italian Camila Giorgi against the American Coco Gauff on Friday, and the American Jessica Pegula against the Canadian Ons Jabeur on the other.
