Six people died last night in a shooting in

Plymouth

, in the south-west of England, the

Devon

and

Cornwall

Police reported on Friday

, which has ruled out that the incident is related to terrorist activities.

Three women, two men and the alleged perpetrator were killed in the event, which occurred in the Keyham residential area of

Plymouth

, law enforcement added.

According to local media,

among the deceased is a child under 10 years of age

, while other people were hospitalized after the incident.

At the moment the circumstances of the event and how the author of the shots was in possession of a firearm are unknown.

Labor MP for the Plymouth Sutton & Devonport constituency Luke Pollard said

the shooting was "horrible"

and that he was very "shocked" to learn that one of the victims is a child.

"The area (of the event) has been cordoned off and

the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident,

" said a police note.

According to witnesses,

screams were heard first and then between three to four shots from a house

, after which the suspect left the property firing more shots.

Interior Minister Priti Patel called the event "appalling" and expressed her solidarity with the victims.
