the African Union (AUC) granting Israel observer status, and considered that the argument of the two-state solution gave the union, Western countries and others an excuse to overlook Israel's violations of Palestinian rights.

The article - written by South African Tavi Mahka - described the union's decision as another dangerous step that expresses the failure to stand with the Palestinian cause.

He explained that the EU Commission received on July 22 the credentials of Aliy Admaso, the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ethiopia, Burundi and Chad, and that the observer status was officially approved by the Commission's Chairman, Moussa Faki Muhammad, during a meeting with the Israeli ambassador at the EU headquarters on that day.

The writer drew attention to the fact that Israel had previously obtained observer status in the Organization of African Unity, but it failed to restore it after the organization was dissolved in 2002 and replaced by the African Union.

Lapid celebrated the decision

The writer also referred to Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid's description of the event as "a day of celebration of Israeli-African relations."

He pointed out that the African Union Commission granted Israel observer status without consulting all member states, adding that 14 African countries oppose granting Israel this right.

He said that the commission's decision should be viewed within the framework of the union's long-standing support for the two-state solution, which failed the Palestinians and enabled the Israeli settlement project backed by the West, adding that the two-state solution only served Tel Aviv.

And every time Israel attacks Palestinians, kills innocent women and children, and occupies more Palestinian land, for example, its Western allies refer to its "legitimate right to defend itself" and immediately mention the two-state solution.

Also, the African countries that adopted the two-state solution (aiming) to achieve selfish goals and establish close relations with Israel.

one country

"The African Union should abandon this policy and actively support the establishment of a single democratic state for Palestinians and Israelis," the writer said, adding that working to establish this united state would force the union to implement a comprehensive review of apartheid policies in Israel.

It will also force the African Union to develop a concrete plan of action to help secure the Palestinian territories, and social and economic rights for the time being, according to a truly democratic system.

The writer added that "establishing a single democratic state", in which Palestinians and Israelis coexist in peace and equality, cannot be far from the imagination of the African Union.
